The newest fall color – pink.
In addition to the more organic reds, oranges and yellows, the appearance of all things pink has become one sure sign that it is October.
Hopefully, it is also a reminder that there are currently 2.5 million survivors of breast cancer in the United States. A number that is on the rise thanks to eduction, research, access to medical treatment and, of course, financial support.
Please consider supporting these American companies that not only are making their products in the US, but are also giving back so generously to fight a disease that still impacts 1 in 8 women in America.
To show my own commitment, ms. fifty will make a contribution for each visitor to this blog over the next week. So go ahead post this blog on Facebook, tweet it, or just send an email to your friends. (You can find handy links at the bottom of the page!)
And to show you how much I care what you think, your votes will determine which breast cancer charity my donation will support. So don’t forget to vote at the bottom of this post!
Frank & Eileen – Made in Los Angeles, California
A company with love to share.
The history of Frank & Eileen (the company) is the story of two real people named Frank & Eileen who met, fell in love in and married in 1947.
Their union has proved successful both personally and professionally.
Today they manufacture divine button-down shirts for men and women in Los Angeles using the finest Italian fabrics. (Trust me, no picture can do them justice! If you ever run into mr. fifty after work or on the weekend, he is likely to be wearing one.)
What makes Frank & Eileen’s shirts so special are the exquisite fabrics, timeless design, expert tailoring and secret wash.
What is the secret? No one knows. (That is what makes it a secret, Silly.) But that does not matter because the result is a dignified rumpled quality that you will adore. Do not iron or dry clean — and please, don’t tuck in.
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Frank & Eileen have created a limited-edition, 100% cotton women’s pink button-down shirt featuring a heart logo on the breast pocket (left, $198). Sharing the love on which their company is built, Frank & Eileen will donate 20% of the proceeds from sale of this special shirt to Keep A Breast Foundation.
If you have ever wanted to buy a Frank & Eileen shirt or even if you have just discovered them, now is your chance to indulge in their classic styling and make a difference at the same time. Both feel great!

Seattle Chocolate Company – Made in Seattle, Washington
Every day is a gift. And, to paraphrase the much beloved Benjamin Franklin, chocolate is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
The family behind Seattle Chocolate Company understands this. That is why every delicious morsel they sell is made in small batches using only the highest quality, all natural ingredients — never any preservatives, additives or extenders.
They also understand chocolate’s power. It can lift a mood and maybe even help save a life.
Seattle Chocolate Company offers 3 delectable ways to fight breast cancer. The first is the Extreme Dark Truffle Bar (above left, $3/bar). As the name indicates it is 100% dark chocolate. What the name does not tell you is that 100% of the proceeds from its sale go to support breast cancer charities.
The same is true of the Survivor Chick Bar (above middle, $3/bar). The only difference is the flavor. It is a combination of white chocolate, raspberries, and a touch of lemon in dark chocolate.
The final indulgent way to lend your support to cancer patients is through the purchase of Gilda’s Bar (above right, $5/bar). 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this classic dark chocolate truffle bar are donated to Gilda’s Club Seattle, a place where cancer survivors and their loved ones can receive social, emotional and educational support.

Emily Elizabeth Jewelry – Made in New York, New York
Great jewelry. Great price. Great cause.
Emily Elizabeth Kolins is a rare breed. In this case it is not her extraordinary talent that sets her apart, though that would be sufficient. It is Emily’s approach to business and the community that distinguishes her from the crowd.
Her designs strike a rarely achieved balance between feminine and edgy, sophisticated and playful, delicate and strong. They would be successful rendered in any material of Emily’s choosing, but she has chosen to render them in gold plate in order to keep them at a price accessible to real women. Emily wants her jewelry worn every day as part of the celebration of living.
Emily’s own celebration includes giving back. Browse through her collection and you will find pieces supporting organizations ranging from ASPCA to Fisher House. So, it comes as no surprise that Emily has created 2 special pieces designed to support a cause near and dear to her customer base.
The Open Ribbon Bangle (above left, $80) is available in pink or yellow gold and comes in 2 sizes. The ribbons on the end of the bracelet each measure 3/4″. Susan G. Komen for the Cure will receive 50% of the proceeds from the sale of this bracelet.
Likewise, 50% of proceeds from sale the Ribbon Studs (above right, $50) will go to Feel Your Boobies. These 1/2″ ribbons have sterling silver posts and are an easy (and adorable) way to remind your girlfriends about those all-important monthly self-exams.
Thanks to Emily Elizabeth you do not have to choose between style and substance – she has both!

Healing Cooler – Made in New York, New York

What if you a drink could make a difference in your life or the life of someone you love?
It can.
Co-founded by juice guru Eric Helms and actress/juicing devotee Salma Hayek, Healing Cooler is based on the idea that good health comes from good nutrition. That is why each bottle of the company’s juice contains 100% organic fruits and/or vegetables.
Healing Cooler crafts each of its juice blends to boost immunity, increase strength or aid recovery.
No matter the formula, the taste is always silky and pulp-free thanks to the juice extraction method used. Each vegetable or fruit is put through a hydraulic press that applies 5,000 pounds of pressure. Because the resultant juice is made up of the whole fruit or vegetable, the vitamin, trace mineral and enzyme retention is increased by 500% (compared to other juices).
Healing Coolers make great gifts for the vegetarian/vegan, fitness buff, new mother, gourmet, friend/family member who is under the weather and/or anyone you care about. (Above, $60/6 bottles plus cooler.)
Throughout the year 15% of the profits from each cooler sold go to support Young Survival Coalition. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month from September to November Health Cooler increases its support to 25%.
Better health for everyone is just a sip away.
Drink it all in at healingcooler.com.

Hanky Panky – Made in USA

Has there ever been a better name for a company?
The good news is it is not just a good name, it is a great company.
Over 30 years ago, Hanky Panky got its start (and its name) when designer Gale Epstein used embroidered handkerchiefs to make a lingerie set for a friend.
Since that time, the company has been pioneering and engineering solutions in fields of lingerie and sleepwear for women.
To do this, they give each component – fit, design, comfort and quality – of every item they produce equal consideration. The result is a list of devoted celebrities and real women clients that grows daily.
This year in celebration of the 25th anniversary of their most popular product, the “world’s most comfortable” thong, they have asked fashion designer Anna Sui to create a special limited-edition collection.
Sui’s collection boasts 11 pieces including the “Anna-ver-Sui” Lace Camisole (above left, top, $67), “Anna-ver-Sui” Lace BoyShort (above left, bottom, $38), and “Anna-ver-Sui” Stretch Tulle Babydoll (above right, $82). All items feature an exclusively-colored flower print fabric.
More special is the fact that a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each piece in the Anna Sui collection goes to CFDA Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.
Buy one for the woman you love (yes, that can be you!) and help bring hope to women you have never even met.

Gianna Rose Atelier - Made in USA
Sometimes to make a difference, you have to get your hands dirty.
Other times you have to get them clean.
Fortunately, in this case, you have Gianna Rose Atelier’s Pink Ribbon Guest Soaps (left, $25/box of 4) to help you do that beautifully. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these soaps will go to support Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.
Recognized around the world as one of the leading luxury soap companies, Gianna Rose Atelier lavishes the same artisan skill and care on the Pink Ribbon Soaps as it does any of the animal, garden, holiday, nature or seaside shaped soaps it creates. And like many of the company’s soaps, the Pink Ribbon Soaps have a soft fragrance, are 100% vegetable-based and are triple-milled, making them creamier and longer lasting.
